Pademelon joey makes a clumsy exit from the mothers pouch. Then the joey nibbles on her ear before Dad comes close by. Note the usual sitting position of the pademelon, with the tail forward between the legs, and head slumped forward.
The pademelon mothers are very patient with their young, here the joey seems to be much too big to still be carried around. Talking about the pademelon parenting skills, the following refers to my previous video of the joeys play fighting. I was watching them fighting again a few days ago, but this time a mother pademelon was close by and heard the commotion. She turned around and jumped right through the middle of the fighting pair, thereby stopping their antics immediately. Suitably chastised, one of the joeys joined his mother sheepishly, and the other wandered off into the undergrowth.
