Well, not a real dragon, but a very primeval looking lizard. This Boyd’s Forest Dragon was hanging around on the edge of the driveway. I had walked up and down the drive a couple of times today looking at the birds, but did not see this handsome creature until I was walking away. They are masters at blending in, and will shuffle themselves around to the other side of the tree to keep from being spotted. The Boyd’s Forest Dragon is endemic to the Wet Tropics, about 50 cm long with a diet of primarily of invertebrates. Click on the image below for a larger view.
