Phylidonyris niger
A medium sized black and white honeyeater with a large white patch on the cheek, and a yellow panel on the wing.
At Crater Lakes Rainforest Cottages the honeyeater came in January, visiting the flowering Euodia trees, and also taking nectar from the ginger flowers.
The honeyeater was gregarious, it would call loudly, and chase the other honeyeaters away.
